Background

This project started with a conversation with ODD Brewing about creating a concept for a new tropical IPA. Early on, when the ideas weren't flowing, we got talking about books. I mentioned I had just finished Lord of the Flies, and we started discussing its writing style and how the story unfolds on a deserted island. ODD Brewing felt that the different elements from the book could translate really well onto a label for the tropical IPA. From there, I pulled out the most memorable symbols from the story: the pig's head, Piggy's broken glasses, and the island itself with a smoke signal meant to catch the attention of a passing ship. I turned these into a pattern, aiming for something that feels minimal at first glance but becomes more complex the longer you look at it. The beer's name only appears in the info section, written in orange a nod to fire, which is both the characters' lifeline and their only hope of rescue.
